Microsoft are improving the search experience and optimizing messages for conversations in Outlook for Android. This significant update brings the search field front and center in the app with the new and simplified navigation bar, shows more of the message conversation, and provides clear separation between individual messages.
Search is now located at the bottom of the app, and you can tap on it to get direct access to your top contacts, upcoming travel itineraries, package deliveries, and recent attachments. You can search for emails, files, and contacts in any of your accounts from one single search box or use the new filters to narrow down your search.
Additionally, your contacts and files are now integrated directly into the new search experience. You can access them by tapping on the headers of the different sections or find them through search. They’ve also made it easy to see more of your message conversations with clear separation of individual messages. Plus, messages will now open where you left off a conversation so it’s faster to pick it up again without scrolling.
Microsoft will be gradually rolling this out to customers using Outlook for Android starting in early February and anticipate the rollout to be completed by mid-April.
